As a Jew, Benjamin most longs to visit Jerusalem, but it is dangerous to travel through Muslim lands because of the war between the Christian Crusaders and the Muslims, so he pretends to be an Arab. Benjamin recalls many exciting stories about the places across Europe, Africa and Asia that he visits in his 14-year journey.
