The Great Kapok Tree: A Tale of the Amazon Rain Forest
Author: Lynne Cherry
Language/s: English
One day, a lumberjack exhausts himself trying to log a giant kapok tree that is home to many rainforest animals. While he falls asleep, the forest’s residents, one by one, come down the tree trunk and whisper in his ear about the importance of the tree and how their lives depend on it. Finally, all the earnest pleading seems to work. When the lumberjack wakes up, he decides to drop the ax and walk out of the rain forest.
