Soul Lanterns

A reflective short novel about pupils at a school art club using art to explore relatives’ and neighbours’ experiences of World War II and the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Herself the daughter of survivors, and a resident of Hiroshima, Kuzki’s story is a powerful introduction to the trauma of war but also to the ways we use art and ritual to rebuild society, work through grief, and find hope and peace after a disaster.
